Cast your vote

  1. Open the election email from your organisation.
  2. Select the voting link. You do not need a password or a SimpleVote account.
  3. Read any election or candidate information pages if they are offered.
  4. Complete the ballot: rank candidates for STV, or follow the on-screen instructions for FPTP or approval.
  5. Submit and wait for confirmation that your vote was recorded.

More than one ballot

Some elections ask you to vote for several positions. Finish each ballot. If your organisation allows partial ballot voting, you can submit one ballot and return later with the same link until everything is done. Otherwise you complete all ballots in one sitting before the vote is finalised.

If you have not received the email, or the link will not open

Check spam and junk folders, and confirm you are looking in the inbox that matches the address on the voter roll. If you still cannot find the message, or the link will not open and you have not finished voting, contact your organisation’s returning officer so they can check the roll and re-issue a link if needed.

If you have already finished casting, you will not get a second vote with a new link for the same invitation. That keeps the election fair for everyone else.

Your privacy

After you finish casting, your rankings are not stored against your email. Organisers can see that you voted. They cannot open your ballot and read your preferences.
